About ChampionX Group
"Nalco" Company, part of the "Ecolab Corporation", was formed as "National Aluminate Corporation" in 1928 as a result of the merger of "Chicago Chemical Company" and "Aluminate Sales Corporation", two Chicago-based companies that sold sodium aluminate for water treatment. Chicago Chemical Company's clients were primarily municipalities and industrial plants that purchased its product for boiler water treatment. Nalco has now become a global leader in water treatment, hygiene, technology and services for the energy industry and process improvement with total sales of $11 billion and more than 40,000 employees worldwide (as of 2011).
Nalco Company started its operations in the former USSR more than 25 years ago. In 1990, the company established a closed joint-stock company as a joint venture with the USSR State Research Institute of the Nitrogen Industry. In 1996, this joint venture, renamed "Nalco" CJSC, became a wholly owned subsidiary of Nalco. Over the past several years, the Company has significantly expanded its operations in the Russian Federation and other former Republics of USSR. Russian division of Nalco offers chemical products and services in the field of water treatment and process improvement primarily for the metals, pulp and paper, energy, mining, chemical, food and beverage industries. Representation staff provide consulting services, assist with problem solving, provide technical support in the workplace and act as business partners.
"Champion technologies" Company, one of the industry leaders, has a rich and long history. The beginning was laid in 1953, when a completely private company for the production and supply of chemicals was created in West Texas under the name "Champion Chemicals." In 1959, the Company was acquired by the owner of "Permian Mud Service, Inc.", V. Johnson. Since then, "Champion Chemicals" has operated under the "Permian Mud Service" brand, and since 1990 the Company has been renamed as "Champion technologies". "Permian Mud Service" Company acquired the Scottish "Blacksmith Chemical Services" in 1996, and "Jetco" in 1997 (now "CorsiTech").
In 2002-2004 , a joint venture of "Champion technologies" and "Servo" Company (which supplied oilfield reagents to Russia since Soviet times) was created and operated in East Hampshire under the "Champion Servo" brand, which then completely entered into the "Champion technologies".
At the time of its merger with Nalco, Champion technologies was the largest privately held oilfield chemicals company, ranking second in the industry with annual revenues of more than $900 million. The Company employed more than 2,800 people worldwide and operated in 35 countries on 6 continents.
On October 12, 2012, "Ecolab" announced the acquisition of "Champion Technologies" and the integration of its operations with its "Energy Services" division, which includes "Nalco". On April 10, 2013, the merger of these companies was finalized and the new name "Nalco Champion" was announced.
In 2018, ECOLAB spun off the Nalco Champion division to form a new standalone Company "ChampionX". This Company combines all the advanced developments in the field of oilfield chemistry and through a subsequent merger with Apergy gained world leading downhole pump, equipment and well management technology.
